How big/long/fast is it? Measurement

 You can measure height in centimetres (Canada) or inches (USA)! Using the snowman we built, we can guess (estimate) the height first and then measure to check. Anything can be measured like Lego towers, length of tables or the height of kids. 

 How fast are we going? Talking about speed helps kids transfer their learning to problem solving in later grades. 

 Knowing liquid quantity helps kids understand how to compare cost to quantity and how to convert millilitres to litres. 

  When looking at recipes, there are so many different types of measurements. Depending on the measuring cups available, it can be difficult for children to understand. Exposing kids to conversions early helps them relate later in school. 

 Comparing prices and weight in grams and kilograms. This helps kids understand the value of money and comparing different stores in prices and amount.
