See if you can pour out exactly 10 almonds and then skip count to see if you’re right! This is estimating and counting snacks in a fun way! You could do this with any food like raisins or chocolate chips or toys like LEGO or anything else you can think of! You could also try pouring liquid in a cup to get exactly 1 cup and then check by using a real measuring cup!
Estimating steps is a great way for kids to calculate distance and counting at the same time! Kids can do this anywhere in the house, outside, at the park, at the mall, etc.!
Estimating, which is guessing how many there are before counting, helps kids to learn about quantity. Kids can do this with anything where there is more than 1. Examples are: peas, crackers, socks, Lego, blocks, cars, etc.
How many pucks are there? Estimating and then skip counting by 5s. This activity leads to multiplication. Find the multiplication plus add the 2 extra pucks!
